Elizabeth: The Golden Age Directed by Shekhar Kapur and Produced by Tim Bevan

Shekhar Kapur is an Award winning, Golden Globe-nominated director. He claimed his place as a top director of American films in 1998 with the film Elizabeth, a historical account of the early reigning years of Queen Elizabeth, starring Cate Blanchett as Elizabeth and Geoffrey Rush as Sir Walsingham. The film garnered Kapur eight Academy Award nominations.

The Golden Age director’s other films include Paani, Massom, Mr. India, Four Feathers, Buddha, and Bandit Queen. Kapur also served as executive producer of 2002’s The Guru and the upcoming Secrets of the Seven Sounds a film for which Kapur authored the screenplay.

Elizabeth garnered Kapur Golden Globe, BAFTA and Australian Film Institute nominations in addition to Atlantic Film Festival and National Board of Review wins.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age producer Tim Bevan was born in Queenstown, New Zealand. He formed Working Title Films, a former music video production company, along with partner Eric Fellner in 1984.

Bevan’s first box office success was director Stephen Frears’ critically acclaimed My Beautiful Laundrette in 1985. In the 90’s, Bevan teamed up with Universal Pictures, resulting in greater access to Hollywood and Universal’s world distribution network. Since uniting with Universal Pictures, Bevan has produced a string of blockbusters including Four Weddings and a Funeral, Bean, Notting Hill, Billy Elliot and Bridget Jones's Diary.

The producer’s recent films include Nanny McPhee, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, United 93, Catch a Fire, Smokin’ Aces, Hot Fuzz and Mr. Bean’s Holiday. His pending releases include Wild Child, The Troubleshooter, Burn After Reading, Hippie Hippie Shake, State of Play and Rachel’s Holiday.

Bevan received an Oscar nomination for the 1998 film Elizabeth, starring Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush.
